Santa

We went to the mall to see Santa tonight - it's early but no line! We had to negotiate with Addison a bit to get her to sit on his lap. She agreed to sit on his lap but said she didn't want to talk. When we got there she walked up and sat on his lap no problem. He asked her what she wanted and she told him a purple bear. So they had a nice little chat and Evan, well, you can see the pictures :)

We also rode the train which they both loved and Evan waved at Daddy and said Bye Bye! :)

18 Month Appt

Evan had his 18mo checkup today. He was 23 lbs 15 oz (25%) and 33 inches (75%!!). He grew 2 inches in 3 months! His ears and everything else look great - only 1 infection since his tubes were put in June/July. He's been kind of a snuggly little comedian lately. He's also very busy all the time. He's going up and down stairs without assistance and climbing anything he can. He is also starting to copy everyone which is funny. We just need to work on talking. He doesn't really have any words right now other than Uh Oh or Ball. He does say Mama once in a while if he's really upset. He does jabber all the time but in his own language. He is also quite capable of screaming and yelling. Part of it is that he is stubborn, a little shy and getting by just fine without having to talk. The other part is having fluid in his ears for 7 months (from age 6mo to 13mo). So we are having him evaluated for Speech Therapy so they can help us get him talking. Soon I'm sure he'll be like his Chatty Cathy big sissy who talks ALL THE TIME :)

Fun At Grandma & Grandpa Danenhauer's

After Trick or Treating in Urbandale Friday night we traveled to Cedar Rapids for the weekend to see Grandma and Grandpa. Luckily Sat was a MUCH better day to Trick or Treat and Addy had a lot of fun going with her cousin Daliah and her sister Lizzy. Evan passed on Round 2 and went to bed. We got a lot of candy it was warmer with no rain or wind. Addy did get majorly scared by a robot but she got over it. It was a pretty awesome robot costume and he felt bad. She just stayed close to me or Daliah for the remainder of the evening.
Sunday we got to play in the zillion leaves in the yard! Evan was terrified to get in the pile so played with them one at a time. Addy and Daddy had fun in the pile.

Evan ate his meals like this all weekend in a big boy chair.
I also caught him like this a couple of times. He likes to climb.

The leaf pile...

Evan playing with a few leaves at at time - did NOT like the huge pile or to be thrown in said pile.

Living History Farms Halloween

Doing some Blog catch up here. We went to Living History Farms family Halloween with Grandma and Grandpa Rosies the weekend before Halloween. We trick or treated through the old town, had a snack, listened to ghost stories told by the witch in the old barn, walked through the path of lit jack-o-lanterns, roasted marshmallows and had a great time! We skipped the horse-drawn carriage ride due to the extremely long line.

Yes we skipped carving this year - and nobody was the wiser :)

Roasting Marshmallows

I have no idea what they were pointing at but it was cute

Princess Addy was extremely worried about getting her shoes dirty in the mud.

Trick or Treat!

41 degrees, windy and rainy for Trick or Treating this year. We didn't get as much done as we usually do needless to say. I think it was like 70 degrees last year! We had fun though and are going again in Cedar Rapids tomorrow night :)
Here is how the evening started (also how it ended) -

Pumpkin Patch

Great Grandpa (aka Big Grandpa) and Carol came out to see us this weekend and brought Mike and Carla along with. We all went to the pumpkin patch and Chris and Zoey and Sammy all joined us. It was FREEZING (40 I think?) and muddy. I of course put both kids in their brand new white shoes. We had a lot of fun though - they had a craft store, hayrack ride to the pumpkin patch, lots of yummy food, flowers, animals to pet, etc. And we brought home our Addy pumpkin and Evan pumpkin. And some kettle corn...lots of kettle corn.....

Evan had a blast after it warmed up outside a bit, and when he could run around.

Snack time! The pumpkin bars, apple cider, hot chocolate, hot dogs and caramel apples were yummy :)

Sammy and Zoey got some honkin pumpkins - we had 2 of the little ones.
Addy with her pumpkin
Evan thinking - it is 30 below zero out here, what are we doing?!?!
Zoey and Addy hit it off
Evan freezing again thinking - WTH are we doing??
They are also a greenhouse so they had a huge barn FULL of these dried flowers hanging.

Hanging Out In Sissy's Room

Evan loves to play in Addy's room. He loves the kitchen, shopping cart and food mostly. So far Addy doesn't mind him in her room, she just gets worried he will choke when she has small pieces out.

Can I come up too?!?!
